I have to say, what with an optimistic 20-25 min load per REDV, a good V-brick system is just way more plug-in-and-forget. To really make a REDV system practical I think the RV dual or quad modules are necesary - but at what cost?

x, etc offer excellent Brick-mounts for a fraction of the Module prices; and a nice pair of 150W V-bricks WITH chargers can be bought for under $550 (total!). All with hours of hassle-free operation.
I think, unless $$ is no object, or demand for tiniest form-factor is an absolute, the Brick-route will pencil out with lots of coin left over for the inevitable other must-have-goodies...

You're Ideally going to want at minimum 2 x 64GB SSDs, 4x REDVOLTS, and 2 x Travel Chargers.

On a shoot now in Texas. Our rig is small. I wish I had the EVF.

Hi, I'm asking this here as the topic says barebones Scarlet-x:)

We are going to shoot a doc in HD and I was thinking of buying a scarlet in barebones, would the scarlet work without the side ssd module? I want to shoot 4K (because of the crop factor) and get 1080p through the SDI to an external recorder. maybe the atomos samurai or sound devices pix 240? I know can get quicker results with other cameras but I want to shoot 4K after I finish this project:)

Get one of those hoods or the strap on thing that makes the touch screen into a evf. Working around the camera without the touch screen is a bit frustrating actually.

Yes, Viewfactor DP-4 with an articulating arm is cheaper as is the $169 Viewfinder Grid 5.0 viewfinder adapter for the RED 5.0 LCD
