Rocket speed with 5k? AME and cs6?

What is it like doing fonal MAX render quailty with a rocket guys on 5k? without Rocket it takes FOREVER here.... wondering about buying one...but does it REALLY speed up AME and or Premiere Final renders much?

I have 1080p timelines with 5k footage and at the end of the day my outputs are 1080p but I need MAX quality so I check that on render......and wait.....and wait..... :)

Full debayer of 5k to 1080p with a Red Rocket is aprox real time, around 24 fps if your system has no bottlenecks.

Full debayer 5K on my new dual E5 box is real-time without a rocket. ;)


I guess we need more info, Obin... What are your system specs? You may have a bottleneck somewhere that a Rocket may not completely fix or something that may hold a Rocket back from working as it should. The Rocket does indeed help with the heavy lifting portion and that is the wavelet decoding of the R3D. There are still other factors which determine the end speed.

Hi Obin,

We'd still need some specs more specific than that. Do you know what CPU configuration you are running (how many CPU's, how many cores they have and what they are clocked at). What kind of Harddisk system do you have setup? Is it an external RAID array connected via esata or just a single drive?

Have you checked your task manager while exporting to ensure all of the cores in your computer are being utilized?
