    Hello Helper,
i recovered r3d files using a recovery software (data rescue 3) from my mac internal hard drive as this was the only source the files could be retrieved after the initial usb external i saved the footage on got damaged. (i used a rented epic). Files were recovered with proper sizes in tact but different titles instead of the regular "A011_C002_032403_002.R3D" style format, files came up as "r3d_file-032403.R3D". But an attempt to playback on redline X is futile as it says the files are offline. Any help on this? i am aware i cant recover with redUndead except from i'm recovering from a red magazine or flash and the only hope of recovery is from my Mac drive which so far has recovered but cant play. (says offline). How do i go about getting my files to play so i can start post. Please help

RedUndead works only with redmags and flash. I can only recover from deleted files from my mac internal hdd. Or can redUndead recover direct from an internal mac hdd?

If the internal file name gets messed up, RCX will give you an 'OFFLINE' icon. The external file name doesn't matter. Try opening one of the R3Ds in a text editor and change the internal file names (there are two) so they fit within the typical naming standard (it doesn't have to be the original file name), save it, then open it in RCX. If it opens fine, you might be able to repeat that process to salvage your files.

I just right-clicked and selected 'Open With' TextEdit, changed the names, then saved.
