    I did quite a bit of testing today on the new Beta firmware. One repeating problem, if you are recording and reach the full capacity of the media, the camera locks up still in record mode. You cannot push stop to get out of "record", and the power off button is grayed-out in the power menu. SO I was forced to hold the power button to do a hard shut-down. Then, upon power up, I attempted to enter playback mode. The camera presumably attempted to cur up the last recorded piece of media, at which time it generates an error message and locks up completely with that message on screen. No camera function or menu function. Upon hard shutdown and restart, normal camera operation continues, though going into playback mode continued to generate the message and lock the camera. Presumably the last clip was corrupt, with the camera locking up in record mode when the card filled.
    I did not seem to have any other issues, and Redmote with camera on the jib, running the new firmware also, functioned as it was supposed to. No problems, no connection losses.

    Here are some minor edits needed:

    * 5K WS has a resolution of 5120x2160
    * 5K HD has a resolution of 4800x2700
    * The max frame rate for 4K HD is 121 fps (EPIC)
    * The max frame rate for 3K and 3K HD is 160 fps (EPIC)
    * The max frame rate for 2K HD is 240 (EPIC)
    * The max frame rate for 1K HD is 89 fps (Scarlet)
    * The resolutions for 2K and 2K HD swapped
    * 1K WS has a 2.66:1 aspect ratio.
    I know a lot of us are hoping that we'll see a figure in the scarlet column for 5K 2:1 and 5K W/S that is 24 or higher... any positive sounds you could make about that? :-)
    The epic frame rate differences for those aspects are encouraging anyway... (5K 2:1 = approx 83.5% of 4K framerate => 25 fps scarlet???)

    That's right. Well, not always... E.g. I set up 5K RC8:1 then switched to 1K HD then changed framerate to the max, at that point RC value is displayed yellow RC 12:1, sometimes it would show my default 8:1 in white. I tried the trick again in various combinations, started by setting RC to 5:1/3:1 doing the whole thing trying diff rez and framerates and again sometimes it would not show RC auto-downgrade. Then when in playback checking metadata for those clips it reports what it showed, e.g RC 8:1 where it couldn't have been because of the high framerates. OK, so, yes, it did not reflect (sometimes) the actual value on the top bar on the LCD and in the metadata of clips when in playback on camera. I did not check the RedMote for it, neither did I check the resulted clips in RCX.

    EDIT: tried again to replicate the issue and everything worked just as it should. grand! must've been a glitch of some sort... the only thing that was different was that I put on the side handle.

    The power management has improved a bit.

    Also, I'm not sure if I forgot, but wasn't there a way to delete a scene in playback from the touchscreen? Either it was never there, or I just can't find it now.

    While I'm very grateful for phantom power, I'm still hoping for 25 fps with HDRx at 3K…

    Came back to the 3.0.7 firmware.
    For what I've seen the 3.2.8 is the less stable firmware I've checked, with histogram issues - gap to the right side -, useless 1K resolution. And maybe the image is wayyy noisier (after black calibration is the same thing, roll back to 3.0.7 and the image came back with so less noise... and same lighting situation).
    Guys in production or in preproduction, I'll remind U this is a beta, not use if you're in that moments or U'll find out something not very nice (maybe yes maybe not, of course).
    btw Thanx to Redteam to share their work with us, also if it's not yet ready enough for real shooting - I know there's too pressure for something hot coming up from U, higher frames etc..
    but I think that the bigger improvement U could do is the power management - I'm thinking about it as THE more important feature the Epic/Scarlet is missing... -
    and 1 frame more for 3K - for Us PAL guys - and of course 50 for Hdrx (yes pre-roll would be nice too).
    About the 1K... really the Scarlet can't do some nice higher frame with burst mode at a decent resolution, at least 1920x1080??? mmm... come on, guys, smells like Epic protecting politics).

    +1
    I always wonder why 25p land seems to be forgotten and not included when 24p is supported ?
    Is there some technical reason ?

    No, there never was such a function. Those of us working in documentary, would love such a function, but those working in drama apparently hate it. So far RED has said they are not planning on having this function.
