    1. Go into presets
    2. Delete the top preset for Red settings which should then make 'Default Key Mappings (Red) at the top of the list.
    3. Now select apply and the up and down work again.

    Phew!
nice - seems like this solved my problem too (which were different one?)!

but it should be fine to just switch to 'Default Key Mappings (Red)' - I didn't completely delete the first entry...
after I switched to that the update to 3.2.8 went smooth (no white boot-screen anymore).

I seem to have a big problem now as my down button on my side handle has reassigned itself since the update as 'Zebra 2 Toggle'. Now I can find no way to select Setup, Maintenance or Playback in the menu and so I can't reconfigure my side handle. Has anyone else experienced this and does anyone know a workaround?

    Many thanks,

    Very strange.

Another new feature of 3.2.x is a hard "reset to defaults". You can trigger it by pressing and holding the power button for 15 seconds at boot (keep holding down until you hear the fans go full blast to be safe).

just to report back; phantom power (48v) works fine with x A-Box (tested with Sennheiser ME 66 and K 6 [without battery!])
post fan delay also works fine (tested with 30 sec. delay) - fan kicks in only after half a minute after rec-stop!

nice stuff - still messing around a bit but the features promised/pushed on the list seem to be working fine :)

Yes, I have the a box and was wondering how things are working before hooking up my mkh60 and a box.

No, this feature allows you to use and trigger an external HDSDI recorder without needing media in the camera. In all other regards the camera will behave as if it is recording: fan control, record indicator (with super-imposed EXT), etc. It will even trigger the external recorder to start and stop using the same flags in the HDSDI stream.

You can enable this feature in the SYSTEM dialog. Note, we have put safe guards in place so you don't accidentally enable this mode and not know it.

That is a GREAT addition so sound guy can keep recording tail audio without the camera ruining the sound !

In the same spirit a VERY useful feature would be a FAKE RECORD mode for rehearsals, so the operator can still frame the camera and the sound guy can hear the silent room as if we were recording. Technically it is very close to how Trent just described external recording but it just doesn't record anything internal or external... I've requested such a feature a few years ago for RED ONE... would be awesome to get it for the EPIC (with all due warning and screen displays to confirm you actually are not recording anything just putting the fan in record simulation mode)...

I think the external mode would suffice... assuming that the camera does not have a 2 way communication with the external device so no way of knowing that an external device is not there to record.
