Not yet, but if I could ask for two things in the next build it would be:
1. The ability to delete individual clips.
2. Pre-roll
Both would be much appreciated for natural history shooting.

the temp fix doesn't seem to work, at least for me :( it either shows '-.-' and then switches to the numbers, or simply numbers right away. but I believe in you guys! :)
also, same problem with zoom value. please take a look at it, should display in millimeter I believe, but what I'm seeing is 'x1.0'...
ALSO, love that you allow to switch between % and time remaining for the battery reading. Would love to see the same applied to the mag reading, as in how much left with current settings (change settings and see how much time you have left - awesome!). So many good options, keep 'em coming!
Jarred, Maybe if the delete option would have to be activated deep in the menu to be used. The activation could also be password protected so it wouldn't get activated if it's not wanted. And also have the standard double check "sure you want to delete?". With that it should be able to use the camera without accidental deletion of files.
Of course it's always safer to not offer it at all, but that doesn't eliminate the possibility of loosing data along the way (while copying data etc.) so I dont see a real plus in not offering it at all. people make mistakes. it doesn't matter when ;)
Maybe also instead of deleting they could be tagged as "delete when necessary" so they would stay as long as possible on the card until the space is needed. Then they get deleted by date/time. That would make it possible to recover them for a while.
Excellent idea. Delete by date and time the selected files when there is less 15% of free space. If not, keep the file metatagged as "To be Deleted", additionnaly to a delete now function.Maybe also instead of deleting they could be tagged as "delete when necessary" so they would stay as long as possible on the card until the space is needed. It would be two nice features, not only for wild life cinematography but for web content, non slated false take etc..
Why shouldn't Red protect Epic? It's their product. I own the Scarlet and I realize how foolish it would be for Red to enable 24 fps at 5K in it, unless or until the Epic surpasses it significantly, perhaps with the new chip.
On topic, I too would really prefer the remaining card recording capacity to be expressed in time instead of percentage. Especially now, as this firmware version causes the camera to lock-up in record mode when the card is filled. Happens every time.
I'm with you on that, people should be realistic and don't expect RED to change those boundaries so dramatically, especially not for free. As much as i wanted 3k with 120fps and 5k with 24fps on Scarlet 2/3 and EPIC-S/Scarlet-S35, i'm happy with the compromise that has been made between these two concepts. I think its even too harsh to call Scarlet-X a compromise. Hey we're talking about the 2nd best digital cinema camera here... :)
That being said, i understand the feelings and why people keep asking for it, 5k@24 and 3k@120 sounded so damn sexy, those specs are branded in our brains, because we've been talking/reading about them for years. I would love to have full motion @ 5k too, no question, i just don't expect it to come for free. Yes i would pay for such a upgrade. For me it's not just about the resolution, i want the lesser crop-factor and DSMC @ 5k (currently i still have to choose between 5k stills and 4k-motion).
I understand why RED is protecting EPIC (but i don't think the limits are only there for EPIC's protection), so if i could make a more realistic wish, i would ask for more flexibility within the boundaries. Why not add stuff like 5k HD (and/or WS) with 15-18 fps and maybe 4.5k and 3.5k with whatever is possible... Trading compression for more fps is another attempt to push the limits just a bit. ;)
I think EPIC already surpasses Scarlet-X significantly, it can shoot 96fps @ 5k!. ;) With the growing usage of HFR for cinema this will get more weight, maybe enough to allow full-res-motion with standard-framerates on Dragonized Scarlet-Xs.
P.S.: Thank you RED for making 1k actually 1280 and not 1024 as expected.
