I'm considering an ATOMOS Ninja, but only if it's ends up being full 1080p and doesn't require 2:3 pull-down to get from 60-to-24p. Otherwise I'd have to pay 2.5x for a PIX240.
The black border is no longer present for HD modes in 3.2.8.

    HDMI 1080p24 is coming soon.

    Anyone?
3.0.7 is the release version. I don't believe it was ever released as a beta version (are you thinking of 3.0.6?)

In any case, there is only ever one version of firmware with a given version number. The beta/release status of a version can be changed once it has proven to be stable. That is, if we release version 1.2.3 as beta and then later change it to release there is absolutely no difference in the firmware.

I don't believe that the Ninja will be able to take advantage of the triggering, timecode, file naming and the meta data that the Samurai can do.

Yeah, I thought so... I'm still looking into the Pix, as it would postpone having to get an A-box (or equivalent), assuming you could use the Pix's XLRs and SD pre-amps to feed the camera audio. I just don't know if it will actually work the way I envision (e.g. Pix getting image from camera, camera getting audio from pix, without audio feedback or delays/conflicts of any kind.)

Forgive me if this has been answered already, but How does the slate information work in practice. I have upgraded our cameras and entered the slate information, shot a few test clips and I can't see where this information appears at all. Anybody else played with this yet? Love the feature.

For now the slate information is just stored as meta data in the clip. The idea is that you will be able to see/use this information in post.

I am using a Panaosonic BT-LH 80w as a monotor wich is working fine now with 720p output but the test colour bars chip and screen menus will not come up .If I go through and change the various drop down menus in the external monitor control my picture goes very funky .Split halfs etc .Ive reloaded the firmware a few times .Any ideas ?

The overlay selection for the monitor currently needs to be set to menu's or overlays in order to view the test charts.

If you get a split screen after changing monitor resolution or frequency a reboot will take care of it. Another workaround is to switch recording formats until the split is resolved. We're aware of this issue and are working on resolving it.

Is there a fix for the camera crash / shutdown on record? I got an email about firmware update but I'm stuck on location and can't read the whole thread.
