Hi Laco. I am using the USB cable connected from the Redmote to my Mac. The networks tab shows that there is a connection. The difficulty arises when I try to use the Redmote utility. Before you can update you have to establish a connection through the upgrade ap. This is where it gets stuck. It says it cannot find the device despite the fact that I can see that it is connected to the Mac properly via the networks window

Ok. sorted it out. For anyone else having a similar difficulty the solution is to turn off other internet connections to your computer - ethernet and wifi which seems to interfere in some manner with the upgrade ap. Once you disconnect them then it works like a charm.

Didn't see this till this am, I've posted this solution several times and it's usually the issue, it should be in the manual or as a sticky somewhere as it's usually solved by just disconnecting your wireless internet.

So next manual revision you guys should add this to the REDMOTE section. It's a very common issue with upgrading REDMOTES.

Glad you got it worked out Rob.

    Best to all,

I downloaded the new manual for the 3.2.8 firmware. It weighs in at a whopping 63MB and I'd like to get it onto my iPhone. The 3.0.0 manual is only 12MB so I can easily email it to myself, but not the new one. And the download of the new one is a zip folder so I can't just load the PDF in Safari and then save ti iBooks. It's also secured, so I can't print/save as PDF to decrease the size or use Acrobat to to decrease the size. Any chance someone can upload a smaller file that can be emailed?

RED- Just don't zip the PDF and we can import it in iBook on iPad and iPhones from the browser.

Mike - you can drag the PDF in iTunes and sync your iPhone or iPad, it will appear in iBooks.

I'm getting an error that it's too big because it's over 30MB. Can someone at Red shrink the size please? The previous manual was only about 12MB and this one is over 68MB.
