Hey Evin, not sure how you saw this, but I did very careful sharpness tests when I was deciding between Supers and Standards, and found both completely equal in sharpness at T2.1 (if not sharper on the Supers).

Im thinking of buying the CP.2 Super Speed, ( 35,50,85mm f:1,5) but will these lenses cover the full 5K format?

    What about the CP.2 21mm & 28mm.?

Any thoughts on wherther to buy these lenses or not?..

    Best regards.

At the end of the day. if Ziess can make a small bright prime, so can RED... It's as simple as that.

Red are the real deal and can probably better many companies with design, buying power, production methods etc...

They will bring out AF / Manual combo lenses soon.. (hopefully small, bright and light) that will smoke the competition.
They read the forums and they know that lens weight and size is a massive problem. The will change there thinking for the next round of glass, I can assure you of that.

There small ZOOMs (50 to 150 is the best) are the testament to being able to make good glass in small packages. The RED primes with less glass in them and only F1.9 were just a mistake. Sometimes cool looks does not fit into usability.

    They know that now.

I'm just really keen to see the next phaze for them in the lens department.

I'm not satisfied with any primes I have at the moment...

Something like a ULTRA prime size with F1.3 brightness, light weight and affordable with the same size front diameters... Pin sharp like the RED primes, Covers 6k... and you have my money.

All of the CP2s cover full frame, so you're perfectly safe at 5K. From what I've seen, the super speeds are soft wide open, but sharpness is pretty much on par with the standard speeds when stopped down to T/2.1 on down. As to whether they're worth buying or not, it's probably worthwhile to rent a set and try them out to see if you like them - or if you're nowhere near a rental house, there have been several fairly comprehensive lens tests that are available to check out online (like the SALT tests stickied in this forum).

There's not much out there that gives you the quality of glass and cinema mechanics that the CP2's have at a similar price point, so if you like the image they're a bargain. Whether or not they have a pleasing overall aesthetic can be a bit of a polarizing issue on this forum - some people hate it and some people are fine with it - so try them out (or see if you can get some R3D's from someone else who has a set) and see if that's what you want.

I hope you do Phil, I'd really like to see that.

One day soonish I'm hoping to shoot charts of the entire set at different distances and do some flare/glare tests.
