None of those are shortcomings of grading software in general, because I can't think of other grading programs that have them either. Unless there's "temporal interpolated speed changes", "temporal based noise reduction", or "timeline versioning" available in Baselight, Lustre, Scratch, and Speedgrade that I don't know about. My point is that you're talking about features that are generally either editing or visual effects features, not grading features. In the future, some of these programs may become a bit more generalized as finishing tools. Right now, they're not, so expecting them to have features that are not part of their core purpose is not realistic.
Speedchanges is supposed to come in 9x
Looking forweard to see how that performs...
Bit OT, but: Actually I am by now retty impressed over the comforming capacities in Resolve (while being a little underwhelmed originally).
It's getting smooth as silk, while not yet really fast.
And the BM team is really responsive on most kinds of feature requests and suggestions and fixes.
But I may be the only feeling this way
Then you should check out Filmmaster. All features described had been present in it for quite a while. I'm pretty sure for a couple of years now Lustre too has an excellent temporal based noise reduction.
I had mentioned in the past, that you and I operate in different markets with different requirements. What you find "generalized as finishing tools" I find indespensable for the type of color grading I need to perform on daily basis.
