Or use Red Rushes, I have yet to have a freeze frame when exporting to Quicktime using it. Red Rushes is a part of Red Alert

Or what Wayno suggested will work. DPX etc export out of Redcine will do just fine.

After that though you bad part is you have to render out ANOTHER pass out to QT via AE or similar.

  3. #103 Failure to write frames.
I am getting error messages about failure to write frames. The resulting clip begins 1 frame after the failed frame, which in one example was 2/3 the way through the clip. No reason is given in the log for why the frame failed to write.

    Same here Brandon,
immersed in a project and one of the clips just records the first frame of the clip into a 234mb QT .. in other words, I say render and RC renders one frame, the first frame, for as long as the original clip was. I had to erase the project and start from scratch and then it works until it fails again. So frustrating and not very consistent.
I did this on 2 different macs, a laptop and a tower.
Laptop specs: 2.4 GHZ, 2 GB ram, 512 video card nvidia 8600gm, 14 inch.
Tower: Quad core 3.2 ghz, 16gb ram, ATI Radeon 3870

doing a RC test on macbook:

    - shot a short interview on 2k 2:1 build 15
    - edited a small sequence of this interview in final cut pro 5.1.4 using the quicktime proxys generated by the camera
    - exported an XML
    - imported XML into CRIMSON
    - cowboy intermediate
    - downloaded a new version of RC, loaded the cowboy intermediate.
    - the clips show up, but i can not see any picture - just grey thumbnails.
when i import the "telecine" -XML made by CRIMSON, they timeline of RC changes but still no picture - just grey thumbnailes.

    any thoughts?

    kind regards,
    martin

    Martin,

Macbook doesn't have Graphics card to show the picture in RC. You need to move the mouse on top of the screen and you will be loaded with a pop-up menu. In that click on color and you can watch the image. Hope it helps you. Try to use Macbookpro.
    Thanks

Oh, OK. Now I can see the images on my PC notebook (HP Compaq 2210b) after clicking Color in the top menu. But, the image is very dull and does not respond to changes in colour settings and curves. Also, the project thumbnails are still blank. Any way I can trick them to show up?

    Pawel,

thank you for joining me ;-) I had exactly the same "Oh" on my face after reading G's post and trying in RC ...

same here, the image is dull and does not respond the color changes, etc. - there project thumbnails are still grey.

but after reading G's post i remembered reading on this forum long time ago that RC is a graphic card based application - makes sense now!

i did a test hand copying the settings from redalert to RC and rendered the timeline in RC - it works, i got a quicktime with the setting i chose in RA.

    regards,
    martin

When I use 'Load All' to get all of my clips into RedCine, it says, "37 clips found" (which is correct) but only 4 load (all from different .RDM folders). I have tried uninstalling RedCine and reinstalling but still doesn't work.
