Is there a solution or workaround to the camera crash / forced shutdown when pressing record after 3.2.8 Beta "force_upgrade" update method.

Sent my log to support and they said to do the "force_upgrade" update method which I tried many times and it is still crashing all the time when pressing record. Update goes fine (I guess...) since it displays the right firmware version in the system info.

I know there is an official thread for beta 3.2.8 thread but my post always gets buried in between people talking about adding 24p 5K on Scarlet so I'm opening a dedicated thread as I'm not the only one experiencing the issue.

    It's REDcode or no code...

I followed the recommended upgrade procedure to the Beta firmware, and I have not had a crash upon hitting record. I did, however have the camera remain stuck in record mode 3 times when media cards filled, requiring a forced shutdown. This also results in a fatal lockup when trying to play back the last clip recorded to the media when the camera is started again, resulting in another forced shutdown.

I think Red has a lot of work to do on this piece of firmware.

Sorry to say this but, if you can't record not in previous builds now. I would advise to sending the camera back to RED to get checked out.

3.0.7 works great. I meant I rolled back to 3.0.7 first and re-installed the 3.2.8 and it still crashes. I thought that's what you were suggesting.

did you try rolling back to 3.07, then a reset to factory settings, and then upgrade to 3.28?

Thanks for the suggestion I just tried this that was a good idea but it still crashes. Still get the "Error: 0x0000001e / Please save log and send to RED support" when trying to record.

We've received your log, thank you for submitting it. Everything was upgraded properly on your end using the force_upgrade. We're working on rolling out a fix for the particular problem you are seeing. Until we post another update, I recommend using 3.0.7 on your camera.

The other posts are correct in saying that if you see any strange behavior after downgrading/upgrading, re-setting to factory defaults is the first step you should take to resolve any issues.
