I really like my cartoni focus. I had a libec and sold it. It was ok. Also every MAnfrotto I've ever used was not that impressive. I do have miller legs though. They are awesome. Miller makes some really nice heads as well.

+1 on the cartoni. Best tripod for the price imo. It can support the weight of a full scarlet rig no problem.

The Manfrotto 509 is definitely not enough. I have one and it would be completely maxed out with a bare bones Scarlet rig, leaving you no room to grow.

I use a Vinton Pro-10 for my scarlet rig and it works beautifully.

Thanks for the input Peter but the vinten is rated at 22lbs and manfrotto at 29.
How was your experience with it ?

I bought an e-image tripod as an experiment in light weight run and gun technology, and it has been my go to tripod ever since. The 75mm ball 33 pounds payload $700 dollar one with mid level spreader works great. Even a shoot on square front anamorphics was no problem. Love it and it's dirt cheap. just for reference I also own -

Mini Worral gear head -mitchell base
    Cartoni c20s 100mm ball
Pearson balanced fluid head (like a weaver steadman) - mitchell base
Some other older Cartoni head 100mm ball

My apologies Philipe, I have the 503, not the 509. I love my Vinton.

Philipe, for the price range you're looking at, my research points to the Cartoni Focus HD. Worth looking into. Eager to see some more suggestions

+1 for the Cartoni. We use one on our Scarlet rig and it is fantastic. The spreader on the Manfrotto legs is also terrible.
