  1. #1 Z800 Raid with 4x3TB - only 746GB are shown
I try to set up a RAID-5 with 4x Western Digital Sata HDD with 3TB each, but the Intel Matrix Storage Manager only shows 746,5 GB for one HDD. In Google i have found a thread in a HP forum and there is a need for a BIOS update for the Raid controller. But HP doesnt offer any update.

Here is the HP thread: http://h30499.www3.hp.com/t5/Worksta...s/td-p/5493485

    Does anyone solved this problem?

Man that is horrible of hp to not provide a bios update for you! How frustrating, hmmmmmmmm. Do you have any pci-e slots open? If you do I'd recommend getting an actual raid card for your 3tb hdds and build your array that way. Sorry man but I think hp has no plans of ever supporting 3tb hdds, shame on them. If you need some help picking out a raid card just let me know your budget man and I'll happily help ya out. Sorry but hope this helps

    @ Scott:
The cheapest possible with good quality and speed. Maybe about 100-150 Euro. But i think we do need a Sata Raid controller with PCIe x8. Otherwise the controller is the bottleneck. The Raid needs to be fast and the only x8 controller is the following HighPoint RocketRAID 3510, PCIe x8 -> 300,00 Euro!

    @ Colin:
This thing looks like a DIY built Sata connector. Is this thing really working in a HP Z800 with 4x 3TB hard drives? It is really important that you have tested it on the same machine, because i dont even get the 3TB working at USB with a docking station.
