Some have already managed to do it with DSLRs, so I can't imagine they couldn't do it with an Epic...
The DSLR thing does not really work well. My neighbor has one and I played with it. He referred to it as useless, and I agree. It's steppy and lacks precision. It's not that easy to pull off what you ask, as those lens motors were not designed to move smoothly like that.
