  1. #1 Premiere EDL&XML to Redcine — no audio
Ok, spent two hours trying to find an answer without any luck.

Here's my situation — because Premiere doesn't recognize any changes that I make under Effects tab in Redcine and my grade primarily consists of Alchemy and Unsharp mask adjustments (as well as keeping all the footage in RedGamma3/RedColor3 that Premiere also doesn't understand at the moment), I decided to first edit my R3Ds in Premiere, then export the complete edit as EDL or XML, import it into Redcine, make the necessary adjustments and then export the final video from Redcine.

While doing this I've ran into some issues when importing to Redcine.

When I import EDL I don't see anything on my Timeline — no clips, no audio. The only place they appear is a new Bin.

When I import XML I can see the clips on a timeline, but I don't see my audio track there. My audio track is primarily an edited music track with a lot of cuts that I made in Premiere, it doesn't contain any real audio from the actual shoot, cause I wasn't recording any scratch audio, which I don't need.

What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to correctly import EDL or XML into Redcine and get both video and audio on Redcine Timeline the same way I get them when I, for instance, import XML from Final Cut to Premiere?

    Hi Demitri,

RCX Pro does not currently support timeline audio. We only support a single audio BWF file synced per clip. The attached audio is viewable on the audio tab when you have a clip loaded in the viewer.

For importing XML's, we honor whatever structure you had setup in the source application. For EDL's, you might need to change the "Destination" setting on the import preferences panel.

    Cheers,
    David

David, thanks for a prompt reply.

So it appears I can't do this project the way I described.

Is there any way to make Premiere recognize Look tab adjustments at the moment? Or the only way to do it is to export Quicktime files from Redcine with baked in look and then edit them in Premiere?

No, Premiere supports RMD files. Save off your RMD files in RCX (already done if you have auto save enabled) and then you can import them into Premiere.

David, that was the first thing I tried, you cant choose or import RedColor3/RedGamma3 in Premiere at the moment and it won't import any adjustments that I make with Alchemy slider.

    Hi Demetri,

Post effects in RCX are limited to RCX, ie. nothing else supports them currently. If you are just doing Alchemy however, there is a good thread lurking around here on Reduser about how to create the Alchemy effect via other means. I'm sorry I don't have a link, but a search should turn it up.

    Cheers,
    David

David, thanks for the suggestion, I will try to find this thread. I like Alchemy cause it's a quick way to give simple not too important personal projects a nice look.
