When both are shipping then the magazine editors can review them side by side. Hard to compare a prototype in a plexi box to a shipping and independently reviewed unit. Remembering back in the day . . . seems Scarlet changed just a wee bit before shipping. Whatever RED ends up producing I'm sure it will be good but no sense guessing what that will be since everything changes.

Also, keep in mind Sony owns a studio library of film based movies which can be rescanned to 4K. There is no doubt that 4K will be the defacto standard real soon when the digital 4K content starts to flow. Funny that the content that will feed this home theater revolution initially will be classic collector films like Gone with the Wind etc. Also funny that lowly YouTube could end up being the primary delivery pipeline for 4K content.

Also watch for the much maligned Apple TV / Internet to be the black swan in the 4K race. If they partner with Samsung and others for hardware and retool the iCloud / iTune service . . .

Being able to slap on any ol' PL lens could be very interesting. I wonder how it would handle an old Angeniuex 25-250mm T3.9?

I hope they release or include a simple cost effective lens that does not require the additional purchase of a 50mm RPP.

At 44 lbs the Sony isn't that small either.

or at least use an ef mount that will allow the use of some cheap still lenses.

I notice that the RED projector has a "taking" (camera) lens strapped to it.
Just as "taking" lenses were not used on enlargers - "Taking" lenses are not typically used on projectors. Is red planning on offering a lens designed for projection? Or.... what am I missing here?

If RED not spending millions on excessive ad campaigns will insure low prices, then my order for 2 is as good as placed! In addition, I'll help offset any perceived advertising "gap" by standing on my soapbox and singing its praises to all the venue owners, technical directors and operations managers I know, heck I'll even give em a demonstration!
