We've had a number of questions come up with the new Speedgrade and Premiere Pro CS6 workflow, so we put together a quick and simple approach to working online with your R3Ds.

    Here's the tutorial: https://vimeo.com/42445437

    Hi James,
insightful to watch...but i just tried to do a similar load of an R3d @ 29.97....couldn't get it to even recognize as a 29.97 file...seems to be stuck on 24fps within Speedgrade...Admittidely i don't know how to navigate within Speedgrade, but i should at least be able to load a clip in it just fine....i did a two clip shot sent an EDL to one of my drives...loaded EDL and then tried to load it...it sees it just fine ,then it seems to only allow you to re-link from desktop? Maybe i'm all messed up here, AND i want this to be working....anything you have to add further?
...well done and looks like it worked great for you...

Hmmm... at this point I've only been through the 23.976 workflow. Good to know that the 29.97 could cause issues! I know in the Speedgrade settings tab the default frame rate was straight 24 and I had to adjust that to 23.976... when I head in Monday I'll look around and see if I can find anything. Of course... I have to find some 29.97 R3D files too haha :)

You can change the project base fps by clicking on Settings (rightmost tab on the top, or just press the letter 'S'). Then choose Editing. The top entry is the Base FPS for your project.

A big thank you, for helping to get my head around SG, particularly in regards to R3D files.

Also another worthwhile tutorial for bunnies like me would be the workflow on how to get it out at max resolution.

Very helpful tutorial - thanks. I couldn't get anything working easily without this.

I keep getting mismatched frame rate warnings despite changing both playback and editing preferences to 23.976

I also found that "dual display output" didn't send to a second monitor on my system until I restarted the application and altered the preferences. In my case, my primary system display is on the RIGHT and enabling dual monitors didn't work until I repositioned the monitor in the SpeedGrade preferences.

Overall, a bit of a headache to get going but I like what I'm seeing... especially the built in FX. I have Davinci and that's a very nice way to go plus I have HD-SDI output... but some of those built in SG looks are very nice starting points and the workflow seems more intuitive for anyone not used to node based thinking.

    Hi Joel,

can you bring the EDL issue to the official SpeedGrade forum (http://forums.adobe.com/community/speedgrade) and we'll find out what's going on.
