I received my Sidehandle but it does not retain the Redvolt batteries very well. I push them into the handle but they pop back out. The retainer does not seem to work. Is anyone having any trouble with this? It's very frustrating.

Yeah I have the same problem but only with certain batteries which is kind of strange. I usually just pop the battery in to where it will hold on the tab and slowly close the door as it sticks in the tab. Just be careful not to jam it in for you might break the tab. It just seems like a slight design flaw. I know other people who have had the same problem but they manage with the push and close trick. I think the best thing to do though would be to ask your RED rep.
Have the same problem. A bit frustrating at times but workable indeed.
I've had a similar issue. But I have 4 different Redvolts and the issue seems unpredictable. Most of the time the batteries click in no problem, but occassionally they pop out. Usually when I try a different battery right after, it will click right in. Hope that helps, that's just been my experience recently.
Yep, I have the same problem. The tab design definitely needs work.
I had the problem but it gradually went away and now they fit perfectly.
My solution for this annoying problem is fitting a small cut piece of foam taken from the bottom most layer of foam packing from the side handle ( the black more rigid foam) and then packing it lightly under the red tab in the side handle. Seems to work fine, haven't had a problem since.
there will probably a firmware update for this very soon!!!
Can't tell if this is a troll... but just in case it isn't, there won't be, it's a problem in the manufacturing.
I have the problem too. Helpful tips:
- When putting the battery in put pressure on the R, seems to be the best place to help it go all the way in.
- If it simply wont close, reach around the camera and hold the battery in, holding on the bottom left of the battery and close the door.
Note that heat was a problem for me once. Camera was shutting down from an overheat and at that exact same time I couldn't get a single of my batteries to stay. Once the camera had cooled down it was fine again. Coincidence maybe.
Try this. When you push in the redvolt just push on the letter R on the battery. Hilariously, this sorted out the problem for me. Fits in every time.
