Hi all,
as some of you already know, I have just made the move from Tokyo to San Francisco to join a new company, Golden Gate 3D.
I'm really happy to announce we are now fully operational with both an Epic stereo rig and a C300 stereo rig (for B camera and smaller budget productions).
We have a fantastic office location on Treasure Island, in an old aircraft hangar/studio that has seen many movies (Ang Lee's "Hulk", "Bicentennial Man", "The Matrix" and many more) shot here:
We just shot a beautiful 3D ballet performance in front of the Golden Gate bridge with Steadicam operator Pedro Guimaraes using the new Screenplane SteadiFlex rig with dual Epics and Ultraprimes, along with Benjamin Casias shooting our C300 stereo rig. You can see many behind the scenes photos of that via our page on Facebook (set to Public so no need to log in if you don't use Facebook):

We're really looking forward to making the Bay Area a premiere destination for stereoscopic 3D production and I personally am very excited by some of the stuff we have coming up in the near future! The Bay Area was after all the real birth place of film on the West Coast and with the amount of history and talent here (especially in VFX!) I think we can once again be a no-compromise destination for movie production, in one of the most picturesque cities in the world!
Cheers from San Francisco,
Paul :)
P.S. I will still be maintaining close ties with Tokyo and Japan, so anyone wanting to shoot 3D there be sure to give us a call - I'm only too happy to go back there for shoots and have a wealth of connections and resources to draw from, having pioneered Red cameras there!
