I did the MSDOS FAT reformat on my Mac and then successfully formatted the SSD in camera. Thanks. I'm not sure where the flakeyness came from...

EDIT: not FAT 32... do "MSDOS FAT"

Currently I'm dead in the water. Can't reinstall the firmware because the camera won't read the SSDs (I have two) no matter what combo of formatting.... this is so uncool.

You guys are super helpful. The root flakeyness caused both SSDs to freak out again so I'm starting over here if anyone has any suggestions.

Just a suggestion that may or may not work, but is worth a try:

    1. Format the SSD as MSDOS FAT with your computer.

    2. Copy the 3.0.7 firmware folder "upgrade" to the root directory of the formatted SSD.

    3. Rename the "upgrade" folder to "force_upgrade" (without quotation marks).

    4. Turn the camera off if not already off.

    5. Insert SSD with force_upgrade folder on it.

    6. Turn on camera and see if it force upgrades the firmware (which in the process will reinitialize all your camera settings to their defaults.

    7. Hopefully after that you can mount the SSDs. They may show up a unformatted. That's fine.

    8. Push the SSD icon on the main LCD screen and then choose Utils - Secure Format.

Record something to each card, eject, and remount to make sure it's all behaving.

    Hope this helps!

    Cheers,

    Paul :)

Take off the side handle if it's attached before doing a firmware reboot

Yes indeed, and remove the Redmote too. Power from AC and not batteries if you can.

Thanks Paul. I went ahead and installed the beta firmware as I could not get the release build to force install. Seems to be working now. Thank you and y'all for the help. I did remove the sidehandle at the same time (I hadn't in the previous attempts)....

Just a general comment. Please make sure you are un-mounting the SSD's cleanly from both the camera and the computer before removing them.
