In Epic, if you have area guides up (like, say, 4x3) they vanish on playback even though frame guides still appear. I was on a job today (no VTR) where we wanted to see playback and check to see 4x3 framing. Since the Epic output is 1.9:1, simply turning on the frame lines on the monitor would not be accurate. We ended up putting tape on the monitor. Not sure if this is a behavior that was designed into the camera or a bug.
The other playback trick that sprung on us was using a PIX 240. We had a few high speed shots at 48 fps, so we disabled the record trigger and played them back from the SSD. At one point we used the trim function and set the playback to 2x to observe "real time". We shot a few more takes, wrapped, and started to dub the high speed stuff to PIX. We were surprised that the trim/ loop was still enabled, and the clip played back at 2X. I seem to remember the usual behavior is that the trims and playback speed reset when you go live. We stopped, reset the playback, and continued dubbing.
Neither one a big deal, but I was just wondering if this is intentional behavior.
Cheers,
