    Hello,

Even If there where some 4k projectors all cinematographers who had a 4k DCP decided to screen their film in 2k.
    They feel it too Sharp...

It looks like back in 2002, when HD came to the market DPs asked to blur the picture because the HD picture was too sharp...

My opinion is that they could have used other optics... too many people use Master Primes because it became THE "standard".

If you don't want a hyper-sharp image, why worry about 4K in the first place? Shooting in 4K with softer lenses that don't resolve all of the extra detail seems like a waste of time to me - why go to the extra effort and expense of dealing with 4K without reaping the key benefit it has to offer?

I think 4K is not only about measured resolution.
Think of it like the difference between SD and HD. Even if you create a softer look in HD the details still will be there and not lost because of lack of resolution when shooting SD.

Now I must admitt this is highly speculative as I've never seen 4k... I'll tell you when the last project I did, will be premiered on a 4K projector...

But I don't believe in the "there is too much reslution" argument. And we will get used to it (or spoiled) really fast.

I watched Samsara in 4k and it was gorgeous. Although, it was shot in 65mm...

Because you can future proof your work, you can reframe/rescale your image...there are a myriad of reasons to shoot 4K besides "sharpness".

I think 4K is great for everything - whether you are shooting "sharp"...capturing a specific look in camera too.
