WWDC is just over 2 weeks away I think, you never know something might happen then.
Ivy Bridge.... I bet Apple waits for it.
People want a new Mac Pro, but other than that I don't think people really know what they want, other than something "new".
As much as I want to see a new Mac Pro I can't really see a FB page encouraging them to release one if they aren't planning on. I think they know better than anyone what the demand for it is and where the demand is coming from. It's just whether they see that demand as something worth responding to and only they will decide that. On the other, it doesn't cost me anything so I will 'like' none-the-less!
I wouldn't be so fast to ditch the Facebook thing. If it gets enough people, it gets the press attention, just like the final cut x movement a while back. Of course, if Apple is already planning an update, like Jeff says, and waiting for Ivy bridge, than what we are goin to get is a post in macrumors somehow "confirming" the existence of the machine. However, if there are no plans for an update, this will snowball and hopefully push them to reconsider a macpro or a professional option...
I agree on the Facebook approach. If enough response is generated, it could in turn get Apple to at least drop a hint or something. IMO, I'm pretty sure a new Mac Pro system is coming, or at least a new offering that sits above the iMac and caters to Pro users. I'm rather skeptical as to whether the next "Mac Pro" will retain the same dated tower design. It was always an elegant design and well-made, unfortunately it lacked some function and practicality -- couldn't properly rack mount it. Seriously lacking both internal drive bays and expansion slots for a system of that size.
Looks like the petition is gaining traction:

Lol if this is what's required to get new hardware, maybe it's time to look for a different hardware solution? *prepares for incoming bombardment*
Wow. That Facebook group has trippled since this morning.
