  1. #1 Redmote won't hold connection reliably - even within a couple of feet
My Redmote keeps losing the connection with the Epic, even just a foot or two away from the camera. Any tips on a better wireless connection? Every time i try to use it...I end up having to put it away...just too frustrating to try to re-connect every few minutes.

Does anyone think that RED will ever manufacture a Redmote interface cable, so that we can bypass wireless and place the Redmote on camera? (the Redmote mount on my body is currently blocked by a ViewFactor / Anton Bauer Battery adapter- and i like where the battery plate is located)

Same here. I hope there's an upgrade coming as it doesn't work as advertised.

If you have an Epic-M the upgrade program (http://www.red.com/news/epic-m-upgrade-program) includes an updated redlink antenna. If you have an Epic-X please open a support ticket (http://www.red.com/contact_us)

I have never seen a Redmote work reliably. Does that mean that none of the big rental houses in Toronto have done the upgrade?

I had chronic issues with my Redmote ever since the beginning... Found it to be unusable. I kept asking, but never got any answers or anything. Finally I sent my EPIC-M in for service because some bits had wiggled loose internally (warranty repairs) and also sent in my Redmote too for evaluation. I never got any detailed information back about what was done, but since coming back, the Redmote has worked flawlessly. I'm thinking they replaced the Redlink antenna while it was there, this was several months ago and all has been well. My EPIC-M is now at RED for the official M upgrade that replaces the heatshink, top bits, etc...

My Epic-X and all the other X's I've used work fine with their Redmotes... But I'll admit I haven't used that many others since 90% of the time I'm using my own cameras.

I have 2 Epic Xs but I have only tested one and it also looses connection even at a foot or two. Virtually every time.
I have the quad battery setup so I just leave it on the back of the camera at all times.

I have Scarlet and Redmote behaves pretty much as described by everyone here. It works sometimes, and sometimes for quite a while on the jib without a proboem. Then it loses connection and will not reconnect. When I shutoff the redmote and restart, it is often fine for a while. But it always loses connection again at some point. These devies should not be sold in their current state of development without a strong disclaimer from Red in my opinion. I hope they figure a solution. Mine frequently loses connection during autofocus request or when it seems a lot of data is going back and forth.

Having trouble connecting the REDMOTE when undocked, even 6 inches away. Updated to 2.0.13 firmware, are these useless undocked at the moment?

My Redmote works well. not fantastic, but well. I can keep a connection for a long time. If it loses connection, I restart camera and Redmote and then it works good for a long time. Average rate of restart 1-2 for a 12 hour day...
So, there's room for improvement, but usable as is.
