anybody looking to sell? will pay well!
Here's an idea... find a used Sigma 50-150 f/2.8 which I believe is the lens which was rehoused for the Red 50-150. See if Matthew Duclos or anyone else who rehouses still lenses could cinematize it The last 50-150 I saw was on Reduser, I believe, for $6K. I can't imagine that it would cost much more than 6K to rehouse the Sigma lens.
I'd imagine Duclos is busy making 11-16s right now, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask. Good suggestion. Of course, it'd be preferable to get the red version...
Hey George- have you used this lens? I have one and it is great, but the lens is not super smooth. That said I wouldn't sell mine because I like the range, but there is probably a better alternative out there if you are looking for a broad range cine lens.
JD,
I haven't used the lens, but the range is perfect for what I'm looking for. I'm very interested in the zeiss 70-200, but that's not available quite yet, plus its well above the price range of the 50-150.
How do you mean, not super smooth?
Literally the action on the zoom feels kind of clunky. The focus and aperture are smooth, but for what ever reason the zoom is sluggish, and kind of resistant. I notice it when it is attached to an FF or turning it by hand. I've noticed it on more than one 50-150, and heard other say the same thing. I believe it is just the way the lens works.
That said I use this lens all the time, and I just know that my focus time is going to be a bit slow.
Jd,
Thanks for the info, that's good to know.
That said, I'd still take one if I had the chance!
:) I agree- I'd sell you mine if I didn't love it so much. Taking it out tomorrow in fact. Good luck finding one. If I see one pop up I'll PM you.
I recently tested that lens on my scarlet. I was surprised to see how heavily that lens breathes. def wasnt a fan. optical quality was ok though.
Domenic,
thanks for the response. Would you be able to post the footage from that test?
