Does Prelude transcode R3D into something else? I briefly looked at the Adobe Prelude web page, and got that idea - so I dismissed it as being useful.

Is it based on a database, and if so, which one?

    He's a good guy.

His feedback in general and on this in particle is that we let Adobe know what we want. He said he hadn't heard this was even of interest until last week but that he'd had the same requests I had from another RED centric production company earlier in the week.

Good news REDCOLOR/REDGAMA 3 is coming soon. He may have even shown a demo, I was busy managing another issue at the time.

Any idea when they might be able to implement metadata?

BTW - how does one actually input the metadata that is stored for each frame such as 'production name', 'director Name', etc. that is mentioned in the RED firmware pdf - so that it can be stored in the first place?

    Hi Les,

I should probably let Adobe answer this, but as I understand it while there is a database the meta data is essentially wrapped in the enclosing file type. Think of it as a header file or something similar. Given that it is not possible to write a R3D at this point Adobe can't use that approach for R3D's. I discussed an implementation that would be an extension to the RMD, (think XML.)

I didn't talk through trans-coding as that's not an option I'm particularly interested in given the abilities of REDCINE-X Pro

You can input the data you mention in the camera.

There isn't a way to view that yet but it is coming.
