    Wht&Blu Series for RED EPIC

The Wht&Blu Series of Spacecam Accessories offer exclusively designed products for the RED EPIC camera. The "Sync Base" and "Sync Bob" provide a hardened and shielded connection solution for use with the Red EPIC Camera. Rugged contacts for Gen Lock, Time Code and Remote Start/Stop are built in. These modules replace the standard triple split cable. We also have the pleasure of introducing the Leica M Series Lens Mount. This enables, for the first time, this series of world class lenses to be utilized on a top of the line digital motion picture camera.

The website says the Sync Bob and the Sync Bob Plus "*May interfere with RED Backpack." Does it block the D-Tap on the Viewfactor APU-IDX Battery Plate?

Could be a couple of other issues too.

The reference on the SpaceCam website to the SyncBob & SyncBob Plus interference with the RED Backpack has been there for quite a while.
Well before NAB and the release of the design for the Pro I/O Module.

About Pro I/O, comparing the photos, it appears that attaching a cable to the HDSDI BNC on the SyncBobs may interfere with the AES inputs on the Pro I/O.
In a similar fashion, the Remote Start & Stop and /or Time Code BNC's on the SyncBobs may interfere with the Audio output XLR on the Pro I/O.
Perhaps the folks at SpaceCam can let us know if this has been tested yet - maybe a 90 degree adapter could work, but I try to avoid using those on critical signal paths.

I was seriously looking at purchasing the Sync Base until I discovered a different interference issue. Along the edge of the camera from front to back (on both Scarlet & EPIC), the Spacecam Sync Base has a small vertical ledge (extra metal over the BNC's). At first glance, this is a very well thought out design to keep the base from shifting in relationship to the camera body.

Unfortunately, this small rise means that you cannot use the Side Handle at the same time as the Sync Base.
Verified this issue in a conversation I had with them last year - perhaps they have modified the design since, but on close examination, the photo on the website still shows the interference.

I have not purchased the tactical cage or ribs, but I seem to recall that there would have been a similar issue there (bottom DSMC Tactical adapter would be force shifted up so the holes would no longer line up).

If you are willing to give up using some of RED's standard gear - these products look great.
I'm still planning on purchasing some of their gear - SpaceCam has a very good reputation.
