  1. #1 Eizo ColorEdge CG245W as reference monitor for Resolve
I just recently bought an Eizo ColorEdge cg245w which I want to use as a reference monitor. At the moment I haven't opened the box and I'm thinking of sending it back if I can't use it as a reference moment. The thing that confuses me is that it has rec709 mode and built in self calibration and it is also featured under workflow on black magic’s resolve page, but no one seems to recommend it. I know there are probably a lot of better monitors for reference but is this one way off?

I'm interested as well to get any feedback on these, I've heard that they are being used in Post houses but get the same feeling some people don't like them as ref monitors, why ?

Eizo claims their ColorEdge monitors have hardware calibration capability. Contact customer support and see what they say:

I know people are using them, though I confess I've never seen one in a color-correction room in LA. That doesn't mean they can't work under the right circumstances.

I've opened the box and it have hardware calibration, when using rec709 mode everything looks ok but since I haven't got anything to compare with I've no idea if or how off it is. It is 10-bit when using displayport so that seem fine.

    I'm still confused though

So far we've only tried it with a macbook pro, but I thought I could hook it up to a blackmagic DeckLink HD Extreme 3D

isn't there an HDMI to DisplayPort Adapter that keeps the 10-bit signal?

I emailed Eizo yesterday and a guy called me this morning! he said that Eizo monitors are being used by the major post production houses in sweden and that the ColorEdge CG245W would work fine with resolve. What you need is a breakout box that converts the SDI signal to display port to keep 10-bit.

Hi, i have this monitor, and i don't like it. The internal calibration is very bad, basic only gamut. Presets are better than calibrated with it own calibrator.
My principal problem is the contrast. Its very low, 600:1 or less.
It work with hdlink but at least mine has a lot of problem and i need to restart hdlink some times.
