Red Raincover Specs

I went to Keslow today and measured out a RED with an Optimo and MB-14 in preparation for making my rain-cover. And I'm currently testing fabrics.

Just wanted to get some thoughts on the features I had in mind. Looking at other various rain-covers for Varicams and Arricams, I thought I might be able to improve on the degree of waterproofness and the ability to adapt it to many configurations (like RED). Along with a few other improvements. Here's some of the features I had in mind.

-Modular for different lenses. Could be used with a standard speed + LMB5 as well as an Optimo 12:1 + MB14
-Access point for EVF and multiple access points for LCD
-EVF Protected
-LCD Cover
-Access points for needed areas, batteries, CF cards, etc, (normal stuff)
-Mildew Resistant
-UV Protected
-Rated for temps ranging from -40F - 150F
-Makes Camera Body resistant to light small arms fire (overboard?)

Also making camera covers for temporary cover for camera. (while B camera is not in use, or while eating lunch. Will protect from dust and rain better than any other cover. Also UV Protected.

RED Camera Cart cover - Why buy bag-its again and again? Same specs at camera cover, but it could have access points.

I've used a few rain covers in my time (and even made one once, with some poly and gaffer tape)...

My idea would be a cover for the RED body with covered openings for cables. Then some method of adding modular bits to cover EVF, LCD, drive, batteries, and lens. A tricky proposition I'd figure, given the number of possible configurations.

Give Collin Seddon in Vancouver Canada a call. No website. His company's name is Northwestern Textile Innovations. The man is a legend when it comes to film specific sewing. As soon as he has a template, you will pretty much have the best rain/dust cover.

I do plan on selling them. Should have my first proto next week. Then I'll size it up on a RED with some different lenses, and then work on where all my windows and access points should be.

As far as a grill cover for a cart cover: It might work for a small cart, but probably not a yaeger or backstage cart. Probably not even a RED camera cart (yaeger jr.). And it may not be 100% water proof. There is a big difference between fabrics which are lightly coated and keep water out to a certain point (tents, jackets), and fabrics which are completely water PROOF. I'd also put some access points in a cart cover so you can get to your gear without taking it off and exposing things to the rain.

Hi lads,

I got in touch with Patti Harrison from Camera Essentials. She says that a couple of people have contacted her but she hasn't seen a RED-One body yet.

We are obviously in desperate need for THE BEST rain cover there could possibly be (regarding our location)...

As stated above access points on the back and variable front are needed.
My special concern is how to integrate different configurations regarding the top rails. I can see many people wanting to "shorten" the body length for various reasons. Since the top rails are inviting to put drives or battery cradles "out of the way" it seems tricky to come up with a cover that works for all silhouettes.

Any thoughts?
Anyone out there is sunny California that feels compassionate enough with the folks from "the wetlands" to give Patti access to a Red-One body?
