Just saw it in IMAX 3D. WOW! It looks amazing, 3D is superb, and cinematography = insanely beautiful.

Story was ok for what it is....You can't judge this on Alien or Aliens or you will not be completely satisfied. Its a great concept with a few flaws, but come on people, it's still good. Maybe it's not in the top 100 best screenplays ever but it's entertaining. That's what a film is supposed to be. It's an adventure... I honestly think they cut a lot of the "information" out of the film. I'm sure a directors cut will have some more info. But I feel like the story we got was in a way "Engineered" to keep us in the dark a bit. Think about it.....

The 3D is excellent. Im really picky when it comes to 3D even being a young guy. The only time I had an issue with the 3D was during fast pans or really fast motion when you get motion blur. (Hopefully the Hobbit and 48fps will reduce the blur and make it easier on the eyes and brain.) Fast action was minimal so not much of an issue. That was my only concern. People who say the 3D is a gimmick or plain and simple not good, I don't know what to say. 3D isn't a cheesy gimmick where objects are flying at you from every direction. Don't expect that. I think if it works for the specific film why not shoot stereo? Honestly, I have never looked into a "window" of 3D footage like I have with this movie. Sure nothing is popping out of the screen but I honestly felt immersed in the film. I think that is what 3D is all about, and becoming a part of the film. It was literally like a window in the screen that I was watching.

Cinematography was great. Lighting was superb. Definitely fit the style and mood of the film. Stylized but in a good way. This along with great 3D really immersed me.

I honestly hope there is a sequel that will maybe fill in the missing info from this film and continue "the mission." I mean people have been ripping the screenplay but what if this was the intention for the first of said number of films. Maybe we were meant to be kept in the dark the same way as the "Engineers" intentions for humanity. Obviously you can argue on either side, but you can not compare it to any other film or screenplay. If you hold it up against some of the best sci fi films in history sure story wise it will be lacking slightly, but don't go in with those expectations and just enjoy it.

I recommend everyone seeing the film.

I enjoyed it... Give it a chance... 3D isn't going away anytime soon, so embrace it, and grow with it. It will get better and to a point where everyone will love it. I guarantee it.

Given that the writer of LOST had final crack at the script, it's not really surprising.

BTW I agree with the remaining points, great set up, sets, and visuals that went...nowhere.

    SPOILER

Oddly, I'd like to see the next film if they get a better writer that goes to the alien planet. (Oh, who am I kidding, if Ridley makes it, I'll see it!)

    /SPOILER

I saw it in 3D IMAX. The 3D was very solid, and the Epic performed beautifully. It's too bad the story just wasn't there.

Giants. God want's to kill you. You want your parents dead. Rape monsters growing from slime. You growing from slime. Where's the problem with any of that?

Oh, and all spoken with purely beautiful cinematic expression.

Oh and notable mentions all over but especially to Fassbender's recreation of Ash as Weyland,,,

    Come on now!

edit: Story? It's all questions. Look for answers until you die. Have faith in something and you will find others that have faith in something. God is going to kill you either way. In the Scott/ Geiger universe he is also going to rape you.

I saw it in 3D IMAX as well. The opening scene was some of the best 3D I've seen, but there were serious issues with backgrounds in some of the 'desert' landscape shots. Things looked out of focus in an unnatural way, muddled. There was a bit of ghosting as well on hard edges occasionally and on subtitles consistently. Maybe there was a projection issue, but the IMAX bit that runs before the film was stunning, and entire scenes in the film looked fine. Did anyone have a similar experience?

IMAX 3D in Long Beach, CA had no issues. Like I said above it was the best 3D I have seen. No ghosting, no weirdness, no strain. By the end I forgot I was even wearing glasses. Honestly...

I just got done watching it in Imax 3D.

    *****SPOILERS********

Like people have said, visuals are breathtaking...

Yes, the story did leave some plot holes, but my main concern was the lack of character development we had on any of these people. The only person I cared about was the Captain of the ship, and Shaw. That's it.... Out of a 17 man crew.... I wanted to really care, because I remember seeing Alien and just being completely overwhelmed with how I didn't want anything bad to happen to anyone... But in Prometheus, I kind of just didn't care.

Now, with questions not being answered, I kind of like it how it is. I might be giving it too much credit, but I feel like the script was written to do exactly what it was supposed to do. Make us want to know more, and be on the brink of knowing and not getting any answers. It is how life is now and we always try to find more and more and more, but in the end, it is most likely that we will never know until the end.

So that is what compels me to see the sequel, if there is one. Hell, maybe James Cameron will do it and it will be action packed.

The only part I absolutely hated, was when the Space Jockey, got out from his sleep, and petted Davids hair after David spoke to him.... That didn't make sense and it kind of just made me mad.

But! I would go see it again. It was fun.

    **Spoiler (kinda)**

The main question I came away from the film with is:

What did David say to the Space Jockey aka Engineer after he woke him up? Did he ask what Weyland was asking, or what Shaw was asking, or something completely different? That could explain why he "pet" David's hair before his actions...

Just saw it too. Really good in all ways. Dariusz Wolski did a amazing job with great visuals. Loved the really wide shots. 3D was cool, not any sea sickness for me. Really clean shots with not any much visible noise in the darks. Noomi Rapace was insanely good, and specially in the med-pod scene. Great animation and dyn sim with the ship landing and the sandstorm. I thought it was awesome because they made a great film adventure, also met up the continuity with Alien and also planted a seed for a amazing sequel. This is a really great job. The only thing that I think they did not follow the design laws on was the xenomorph itself.
