  1. #1 Lens service for older Red 50-150 zoom
    Howdy,

I have a red 50-150 lens and it looks like there is some smearing or scratches on the surface of the glass. Optically I can't seen anything on the image i makes.

    1. Am I worried about nothing?
    2. If it is something to worry about should I try to clean it myself if it is some kind of shmuts?
    3. If the coating is damaged can it be repaired? Any recommendations as to where I might send this lens?

    Thanks,
    J.D.

Get some Pancro lens cleaner & lens tissues, that should come off. Duclos had a video showing how to clean lenses properly posted here a couple of years ago. If in doubt ask someone who knows what he is doing, more lenses are damaged by cleaning, especially as what was being cleaned has little effect on picture quality.

I really should put up video on how to PROPERLY clean glass but can't seem to find the time... :(
Normally I would say try using Panchro on a small section to see if it cleans off.
But if it doesn't clean off, you have bigger things to worry about than micro cleaning scratches. I'd be glad to give it a good clean up.
In fact, if anyone here on Reduser ever has a lens that just needs some external TLC, feel free to swing by the Duclos Len Lab for a complimentary cleaning. Shhhh, Don't tell the rest of the interwebs.
