...Encryption to protect from the "wireless Paparazzi" really only offers benefit to a small proportion of users. Even though I work on TVC and network TV the images would be rarely of any interest to outsiders. Switchable encryption could allow multiple recievers but if you had a sensitive job and needed encryptionn you would only then have to deal with one receiver?

Having finished a simple research my guess is that it is -a possibly changed but- spun off of a consumer WHDI product. You'll find the same box (not necessarily the same innards though) via google. Hence the innards may at least share some similarities, e.g. the finnicky micro USB port, the mentioned missing timecode, and also encryption to ensure HDCP compatibility.

Timecode is not part of the HDMI spec like I said.

I've spent about 2.5 years working on this, and the range alone should tell you this is NYAWP

Encryption - this is AES 128 bit wireless encryption, not EDID encryption.

There are a lot of things we have done to make this work as well as it does, so please, give it a try when it comes out, and if you don't like it - let me know and we will do our best to improve it.

Thanks Dan, no doubt it looks like a great product and I hope it does well for all the hard work you have put into it. I am sure it will.

Its all about finding the right tools for your needs and I see this great for wireless HD but if you want to combined wireless HD with onset captured dailies then you have to look elsewhere.
I guess what I'm saying is I'm looking to make sure I have the right tool for the job and working out exactly what that job would be and how the workflow would follow to make it all work.

I did a abc , pilot in 2009 or 10, and this fella was the dit , and did a good job , was a nice fella ect.
he was working on this project at that time , and was already getting positive results.
i saw a few posts hacking , that this is pre existing technology... i haven't come across one aside from
his , that was small , and not ridiculously priced .
if you want to be mean , or negative .. build one better than his.. dont just knock it because you "think "
you know where he got the components from . thats armchair quarterbacking as its worst

i dont mean to be critical , i just hate to see folks trying to put out the light of a creative person.

Anyone have a picture of this connected to the HDMI port on an Epic/Scarlet? Wondering how far it sticks out the back. I am planning on mounting my bricks to the back and wonder if it will obstruct. Maybe I don't understand how it plugs in. In the video it looks like it would just plug into the HDMI port.

Can someone clarify this for me?

Thanks for the question james - we DO NOT recommend just plugging it into the back of the epic - we recommend using an HDMI male to female connector to place the transmitter like an aerial along one of the sides of your camera.
