Scarlet isn't most likely going to get any more framerate options with the faster media. Although I would like to be wrong.

As to HDRx for sphericals. Yes you can do it. Yes it's nice for location shots so that you can forget about exposure while shooting reference clips. For sphericals? Not really. You need to be on a tripod anyway so either way you can shoot either HDRx or just use a proMote like we did before. ProMote + NodalNinja + 8mm fishEye is still a really effective spherical capture approach.

Agreed. There are such simple, compact, inexpensive rigs for this that it would be silly to try to shoehorn your shooting camera into this role.

I use my old Nikon D2x, a Sigma 4.5mm fisheye and a special pano head with preset clicks called Atome.

The Nikon does 9-stop brackets and so I just do two of them per pan slice. Takes about a minute to shoot an HDRI.

Sorry to persist, but I can thibk of a few situations where lugging extra camera gear is not necessarily welcome. Personally, what I recommend is a classic config but if this not possible, the Scarlett can do it. I presume that the promote does not work with the Scarlett.

OT. I hope that red revises the frame rates. If not, I doubt they will be selling that many in the near future. Take a look at what Sony is doing at the moment. 240fps in hd and 4 k for a fraction of the price
