    Hello!

I have often found high-end PCs built and optimized for gaming to be ideal video editing machines. Sometimes I'll take the memory up to 16+ gigs, but other than that, they are ready.

Has anyone gotten one of these for RED epic or RED scarlet editing? What would you recommend?

Anyone editing with an Alienware or ASUS gaming system?

Yepp ... I ordered a laptop @ www.hawkforce.de ... German 100% reliability laptops, where you can customise all the exact specs you want. I hooked up an 17" intel i7 with 16gb ram, ssd disks, nvidia 580m graphics. On set, i usually copy the r3ds via e-sata onto the internal disk and have syncback pro making automatic copies onto external drives for backup. Editing 4k r3ds natively in premiere works like a charm. Just a few weeks ago i had a quick and dirty project, where i edited a short, rocked some vfx and final grading in after effects and even finished the whole audio post pro with dialogue sfx and music in reaper ... All done on the road on my new "nerdbook"
Ehm ... And it only cost ... 2000 swiss francs which would be around 2200 dollars. A mac book pro with these specs would easily run about 3k up ...
