nope, best thing is to have a spare cable
I'm really surprised that no one has mapped the pins out and started making 3rd party LCD/EVF cables. I am not savvy enough to do this, but can it really be that hard? They're still not gonna be CHEAP, as Lemo connectors in that size are probably $50 each, but if the cables were even $50 cheaper they would be way worth it.
On a related subject, does anyone know of someone who repairs bad LCD/EVF cables? It seems like such a waste to have bad cables sit in the bottom of the kit forever. As Trevor points out, the Lemos alone are very pricey, and I refuse to just toss them in the trash. Be nice to find someone who could rebuild them!
I 'm interested to know if there's a cable repair. Got one that's acting up now
Don't know if you are aware of this Jon but be careful using that cable.
I have heard of incidents where a bad EVF/LCD cable can damage the EVF and the CPU in the RED itself.
Replacing the RED ONE CPU is in the neighborhood of $5000.
Be careful.
Here is a thread (albeit a bit emotional) that deals with faulty EVF/LCD cables.

You could try http://www.markertek.com/ - as they do have a number of Epic/Scarlet/RED1 cables.
However, I'd be very hesitant to use one unless I had a cable tester - due to the damage that could occur.
BTW - how sturdy are the RED LCD cables? I'm very paranoid about bending them.
I know at least some cable guys here in la won't repair them because they are like 20 pins in a small size Leno, too much ofa hassle and probably would cost in the ballpark of a new one for labor and parts.

We do alot of work with Lemo cables and have ventured down this road many times before.. It always ends with the Lemos being too cost prohibitive to make any sort of profit on this type of cable. The honest truth is that RED is making this cable very affordable. As far as repairing them, the same holds true. Those little 17 little pins are a devil to work with and as Brian and many others have pointed out, if there's a mistake made it can be disastrous. If anyone would like to PM me with more details about their problem, I can be reached at jason@CinemaOxide.com
