    Hey REDusers,

Been having issues with AME 6 when exporting a session from 5k (premiere cs 6) and doing a 4k render (h264) in media encoder.

    Settings are: 4096 x 2160 h.264 file, VBR 2 pass at 8 mbps.

The render will stall about 20 minutes in and not go any further. It did not do this in AME 5.5, no gear or settings have changed since the update.

As it turns out it has stalled sometimes at 2k, and as of yet, never at 1080p.

    Any feedback is appreciated!

    Cheers.

Try switching mercury engine to software renderer.
    Try a different export format.
Are you queing from premiere into ame6?

I think I had this problem once and noticed it was stalling once it hit second pass on H.264

I've seen it stall on H.264 too. Rather generate a master in a high quality intermediate codec in the size you want and then do your final encoding from there.
Switching the Mercury Engine off if you have a certified card is not a good solution, the scaling in software is inferior.
    Regards,

    Cheers guys.

I don't have the option to turn off the mercury drive. Will try an intermediate codec. And yes, this is a straight queue from Premiere to AME.

    Thanks!

ProRes 422 hq at the same resolution worked like a charm. Cheers!

ProRes down to h.264 (4k) worked just as well. Thanks for the tip.

OK, new complaint: Rendering from 5k native to 4k prores 422 hq, queued into AME 6, for a vid around 10mins - stalling after 15-minutes of encoding... ever experienced this? Is there something I'm missing?

Like I mentioned, for smaller vids 2-3 minutes worked without a hitch.

    Hi Emmett,

Can you PM your system specs? Is it an older machine? How much RAM? What OS? What Video Card?

Uli, I'd also be interested in hearing more about your machine config. Have either of you tried on more than one mac?
