  1. #1 Scarlet Dragon update and warranty extension
Hello guys, I just had a question regarding the dragon update for scarlet (and epic actually).

do you think it will come with a warranty extension?
from the day the the camera is updated, will the whole brain get an extra 12-month warranty?

I hope so, and it would make sense, but what do you think?

there was a warranty that came with the MX sensor upgrade. Sensor only though. Same thing should happen to the DSMC cameras.

Maybe we get a second chance to buy a RED ARMOR for the brain when we send it in for the upgrade, thats all we can hope for, because i think we will get a new 12month warranty for the dragon-sesnor, but not for the rest of the brain. Why should RED extend the warranty for whole the brain for free? ;)

What's the point of the warranty, I just sent my camera back for a warranty repair after the beta firmware broke the camera and prevented the SSD from mounting to down version.
After 4 weeks of waiting for a status update I decided to ask and my reply was a $550 bill for labor and shipping.
    Thanks Red.

How much was shipping Mitch of that bill?

Pretty steep for something which wasn't your fault

Yeah the warranty seems a bit limited in value.

The RED Scarlet-X Manual states that "Power conditioning circuits provide protection against reverse-polarity connection, ESD, under voltage, and over current."

And yet when my AC accidentally reversed polarity, it turns out the "protection circuit" actually only protects you from having to replace all the electronics in the body, and any of those power conditions still blow out the power circuit which is a $1600 repair not covered by warranty that will put the camera out of commission for a week.

    1x Shipping & Handling $243
    3x Service Labor $100/each
    Total: $543

Not actually sure what the problem was because they haven't told me.
Replied back to the RMA bill email asking why it wasn't covered under warranty 4 days ago and still no reply back...

That's not really fair considering the AC power adapter is their own product.

    What's going on Red?

This is all terrible news to hear about the warranty. How could these faulty issues not be covered?

The replacement part was probably covered under warranty... Labour, not so much. Typical way for manufacturers to get a bit more cash flow.

As for Noah's case, they could easily argue that it was user error that caused a polarity problem (yeah, I know, but they could.)
