  1. #1 Advice on connecting Panasonic to Computer for Resolve work
I would like to use a Panasonic for grading, and want to make sure I have the correct items to connect it to my computer while staying within a budget.

I was planning on buying this Panasonic:
Panasonic VIERA TC-P55VT50 55-Inch 1080p Full HD 3D Plasma TV
I currently have a GeForce GTX 460, but was planning on buying a:
EVGA GeForce GTX 580 3072 MB GDDR5 PCB PCI Express 2.0 2DVI/Mini-HDMI SLI

I am not clear if I need to purchase a BM internal card to connect to the Plasma, if I need to buy a converter of some sort, and finally if it would help to have both GPU cards installed, or if I should just switch to the new one when I get it.

Please let me know if you see I have the wrong parts or any other great advice.

    Thanks,

    Sebastian

Hi, if you plan on using the Panasonic for monitoring the graded image you will need a DeckLink video card from BMD, or one from our ThunderBolt range. You will also need GPUs as per the configuration guide for Resolve to operate. Please review the config guide from our web support page.

    Thanks for the reply!

So I read through the manual, I am not needing a real time solution, I'm actually using Resolve Lite for right now. I don't have a red rocket. I'm working with a PC.

It sounds like my plan to buy the GTX 580 is good because it can be used for both Resolve and Adobe Premiere Pro. I don't plan on using 3D in the near future.

I am assuming I would be hooking up to the Panasonic with the HDMI port, let me know if that is incorrect.

So can I get the BM Intensity Pro - HDMI card? Any downside to that card, or do I need to get the Decklink HD Extreme 3D+ ?

    Thanks,

    Sebastian

You should be able to use your GTX460 as a GUI GPU while the 580 does all the CUDA computing for Resolve.

@ Peter Chamberlain: Are the new nVidia 6xx GPUs supported by Resolve?
