I saw that earlier too. Is there any benefit other than portability? Does the image suffer in any way? Having never used a pancake lens, I really have no frame of reference . . .
+1 very curious about quality, seems like the main sacrifice is lens speed
Very much like the ones for the Micro Four Thirds. Small size and useful - the Panny one is F1.7.
I wonder how this will compare to the Voigtlander one... There's is a Pancake to right?
Yep. I use that Voigtlander 40mm f/2 Ultron SL II EF pretty regularly for stills. I tested it out on Scarlet, never used it on an Epic yet. I will say the build quality of the Voigtlander is going to be hard to beat.
I'd rather use an EF converted Konica 40mm 1.8, but its nice that Canon is making a pancake.
A quick search shows pricing of $199.
