I've just been checking out SG and it seems way cool. However, I'm not sure if there's a method for having something like scaffolds in Scratch for having more then 1 mask operating on a certain part of the image.... or like nodes are working in Davinci??,
Hi Sven,
I'm enjoying SG myself. You can use multiple masks by creating multiple grading layers (above your main clip in the Timeline in SG)
You can also copy / cut grading work from you main clip to a grading clip above it. They can work as containers and each supports it's own mask.
Look for the Red Green and Blue circular icons in the timeline tab to create grading tracks.
FWIW- most of the SG colorists seem to use grading tracks extensively. You can use them to mimic the functionality of nodes for certain tasks.
thx a lot Wes, will try it out immediately
Thanks Todd,
Much awaited update.
I just went to the Road Show and sat in on the Speed Grade course. Very cool stuff. Honestly for basic grading it can be a very fast solution. Excited to see how it all comes together when they add the ability to send a project back to premier after grading.
Does this update fix the framerate "discrepancy" red dialog box with Red footage coming in as an EDL from PPro CS6?
do i have to remove all dissolves and additional video tracks before exporting the edl?
Hello Todd,
Thanks for the update. I also whent to the roadshow and was very impressed with Speedgrade. But then I got extremely disappointment to know that couldn't use my Matrox MXO2 which makes it pretty much unusable for most of the stuff that needs a proper sdi monitor. I really hope there is plans in the future to implement, as I think limiting speedgrade to use very expensive Nvidia card would be really dissapointing.
Anyway, kind of sucks but back to color grading on Apple Color.
