New Group Buy

I've been here a while.. I can understand your concern, but your info is safe.. It'm my business, and the list stays with me personally. No one else. But we're planning a LOT of cool group buys. They will not always be open to the public, but the first few will be.

If they're open to the public, then they should not be hidden behind an "enter your info" form IMO, regardless of what you do or don't do with the information.

I understand having to sign up using basic info to be approved for a closed group buy, but for a public one it's unnecessary and uncomfortable.

Some of you guys sure know how to complicate things.

Here's how it works:

1: First you decide if you are INTERESTED in being in the group buy. You do this by reading post 1 and either you want to know more and posibly get into it, or you don't.

2: If you don't, then you move on and read other threads. If you DO then you go to the page and enter your info. This puts you on the potential buyer list for this group buy.

3: You will get a email from me (I can do that now, see, cause you left your name and email) letting you know when enough people have expressed interest. At this point I'll ask you if you want to make a purchase, and if you do you will be sent to a page or something to enter your name into the "Actual buyers" list.. These people will be committed to an order.

4: this list is sent to Jason at Cinema Oxide where we will take each person's order. Once he's taken enough orders to enact the group buy, then I guess he will charge everyong and ship out the cases.

Done.

This is not a "Marketing ploy". It's not a conspiracy either.. It is quite simply a list of people who are interested in getting in on this.

LikeI said, I am not on a payroll here.. I'm not going to burn hours chasing people around. If you are not interested enough to put your name on the list, then you are not interested enough to be involved in the group buy.

Will I contact the people who signed up and tell them of other group buys in the future? you bet? You don't like that? Then unsubscribe! Takes two seconds.

Really guys... This is not that big of a deal.

Sorry if i am edgy, but I put a lot of work into this to make it run smoothly.

Bottom line: If you are not on the list, you are not in the group buy.

I think the one error I am making is that the Group Buy info list should be for those people that want to be on the group buy, not people who are "just interested" I'll fix this next time around.

Turned of by the e-mail just to see the video. I get enough spam. Sorry Jay, you're a great guy, but this kind of approach - which is kinda low-end push sales-y - does not fly with me, nor, I would imagine, with the likes of most Redusers who are educated independent thinkers.

I know they teach this in internet promotion seminars, but we are not like the mass market these seminars have in mind.

I'm sorry there's such an arguement going on here. I am trying to do something that I tihnk people will like.. But it has to be a little automated so I can run them without a lot of work here.

The system is new, so there are some needed tweaks, but I think it's more what you guys want now. Now there is no "Access page" with stuff on it.. The people who are on the list can communitate there, that's all.

I believe honest feedback is something that everyone can benefit from. Again, sorry if it rubbed you (or your young defenders) the wrong way but I know a lot of people will appreciate the changes that took place as a result.

Is this the foam they are selling ?
Isn't the foam cut outs kind of tuned to the items you personally want to place in the case, which disqualifies the group fit idea for such an item ? Things like lens shape, number of batteries, number of SSD's , stuff like that ?

Also : Use trashmail.net service for annoying requests for email. It protects your real email by making a temp limited usage email for annoying sites that demand your email.
