I got CS6 a week ago and it's been working great. I've only done minor edits but it has worked fine. I just started editing a music video with lots of files. It works fine but randomly it started freezing when i was editing. The last couple times i has been when i clip on a file to preview before putting it on my timeline. Not sure why this would be happening. All the footage is from my Scarlet.

    Computer Specs:
2.7 GHz Intel Core i5 IMAC
    16GB Ram 1333 MHz DDR3
    Version 10.7.4

Running OS off an SSD and footage is on my 2TB Hard Drive.
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB

    Any advice?

Make sure that you have your Paused resolution set to something like 1/4. If you have it set to full or 1/2 res every time you scrub and stop, premiere will pause while it tries to crunch the full res data. That may be the reason why you are seeing periodic pauses. You may also be running into data rate issues from your hard drive. I suggest a raid setup for large projects. Hope that helps!

Make sure that you've installed the latest updates for CS6 software and the latest RED importer plug-in. They fix a lot of problems.

Sounds like the best idea! I will definitely try that and thank you!

I just wanted to add that I have similar problems as well on a 2.2 i7 MacBookPro, 10.7.4 with Scarlet footage. I have the latest RED importer installed (RC3/gamma3) and when I click a clip to load it into the preview window the whole program hangs and requires a force quit. My preview resolution is set to 1/4 and this never happened with the old RED importer. I just updated PPro last night and am going to try an edit in a couple house, hoping that the problem won't come up again. It's quite frustrating.

    Hey guys,

Sorry you're having issues. I'll do some testing on 10.7.4 and see if I can repro on my end.

I just bought a new top spec'd PC based editing system and upgraded to CS6 to edit Scarlet. It is basically a $4500 paperweight that also hangs and requires force quit constantly. Very disappointing.

If you want assistance fixing your problem you should leave explicit details on all aspects of your system and the software you are running.

Another thing that will help is a RAID array. My spec'd out MAC Pro was jittery too, and it is Ferrari style, beefed up to the max. But it's because I had no RAID for high transfer speeds.
