They call it a new Mac pro, wtf, it's not new. what liars. The new macbok pro Rectum seems like a huge step though, two thunderbolts and two USB 3 ports + HDMI that is really awesome for a pro.

I think that once there's MacBook Pros with 8 and 12 cores, and plenty of thunderbolt accessories (graphics expansions, red-rockets, etc.), the Mac Pro won't be missed as much, since most of it's functionality will eventually be replaced by notebooks and imacs

Yes, the MacPro got a minor upgrade. Still a great system, but a 2 year old CPU architecture and no USB3/Thunderbolt and no new graphics card offerings. It will be interesting to see what happens with this line, but for now it's still a very workable system. And honestly, the price is quite reasonable on the 12-core model!

For those of you griping about no NVIDIA graphics and expensive RAM options... remember you can put those in yourself. RAM from http://www.macsales.com (OWC) is reasonably priced and obviously an easy install.

Well, not really reasonable for a model without USB3 and thunderbolt and this video card...
if the price was 4000$ for that, yes, I'll buy one just to stay on OSX,
but for the same price, you have a buggy hackintosh with 16 core, bluray and more fonctionnality....
    so..... cruel dilemma !!

Head of the Mac Pro design team, speaking from their headquarters at a leper colony in 1940's subcontinent said today "Thunderbolt? Big noise from sky. Gods angry".

    One word. Hakintosh.
