Had a power surge/outage today, and now the scarlet won't power up or show power light. The green led on the wall charger does a real faint fast flicker then nothing then flicker then nothing etc.... Anyone else had this happen? Needed cam for tomorrow.... bummer.

Sounds like your wall charger has got fried. Does the camera run up with batteries?

This is why Surge Protectors are not just a good idea, but a necessity. Hope your cam powers up with batteries!

Well i plug in my v mount and the battery resets.... If my wall charger is plugged in to the wall, the green led is solid, then when plugged int the scarlet, it flickers and goes out.

Sounds like your power board is fried. Mine got fried and RED took the camera for a week and charged $1600 for the repair despite supposed warranties and despite the manual stating that the power circuit is protected against such surges and other power issues. Do you have insurance?

I believe it is highly recommend, if not required to have your DC go through a surge protector.

As smart as it is to use a surge protector, it actually doesn't state anything about one in the manual. at least not under my search i performed.

    furthermore, it states:
"The maximum sustainable power load of the scarlet-x ac power adapter is 150W (15v@10A). The output of the adapter is over the current protected, and will shit own if an excess load condition occurs…."

It would be odd if it was since the manual also states that the camera has built in circuitry to protect against such power fluctuations. Unfortunately that does not seem to be true. Or maybe it is just the RED's definition of protection that is the issue. You are protected from $10k asic/sensor replacements due to power issues, but not protected from small variations in power taking down your camera for a week and $1600 in repairs.

so just to be clear, when you put a brick or redvolt on the camera, untethered from the charger, the camera will not power up? Or are you only trying to power through the ac plug? What was plugged into the wall when the surge occurred? If only the charger was plugged in separately from the camera then the charger is probably fried. If you had it pluggen into the camera, the camera is probably fried.

I have tried all sources of power. I am actually going to a good friends house tomorrow to test his a/c charge on my camera to verify it's not the cable, but alas, it seems the camera has been punched with too much juice.
