Here's where I read it - from Magma's site in fact.....

    External Graphics

"There is an interoperability issue with MacOS using graphics (GPU) cards externally through Thunderbolt. Unfortunately, external graphics solutions for MacOS X do not work and we do not expect a resolution from Apple in the short term."

My understanding is that on OS X a graphics card attached through a Thunderbolt expansion chassis requires a Thunderbolt-specific driver to work while in Windows it would work with just the regular graphics card driver. So you will not be able to use a gpu for display output through Thunderbolt without Thunderbolt drivers or without Apple changing the way Thunderbolt devices work with OS X.
