....well, nothing really very revealing other than "stay tuned" till NEXT YEAR. But, i'm sure they will have something smashing. BUT an email like that just says nothing and a bunch of hot air. That said, i clicked buy now on the new retina model....too bad it's the old I7 chip....but the pieces around it are nice.

2 esata (not great with Promise TB on same bus)

8 esata ports (via 2 fan outs)

there are loads of options and TB is a bitch!!
What do you mean in terms of the Peg and Lacie not being great on the same bus? I

ve been running the Lacie down the chain from my R4 and its working great. Faster it seems than the drives running out of either my exp34 slot or the sonnet exp34 adapter.

am I cruising for a bruisin?

That is very promising you say that... We did some hard testing 6-8 weeks ago and when we transfered over approx 100gigs to the Promise (R6 12tb not the R4) it would crap out and the promise would freeze up... So we now only use the Lacie without the promise (either a Lacie TB drive or a Gspeed Q on Esata)

Please if you get a chance copy 1/4 TB onto it? If that works I will retest next week (when I have the Lacie back)

    thanks

"don’t worry as we’re working on something really great for later next year."

At which point, the existing Mac Pros will be three years behind the times. Ouch.

I just noticed the specs on the Lacie--it's only 3gb/s.....too bad. I went instead with the small t-bolt box that holds dual express 34 card the Pro2 version and it's rated at 6gb/s....a little finicky as many know using express 34 with e-sata, but i'll sacrifice that for the extra speed.

Yeah because they're such terribly slow, out-dated and unusable machines now... lol

My 2008 Mac Pro is running perfectly and I use it every single day. It's over 4 years old, man... Believe me, as much as I love having the latest and greatest, this computer still does everything I need it to, and does it quickly at that.

Might be worth noting that the speed of the SSDs available currently doesn't warrant Thunderbolt.

But thunderbolt is inexpensive if you already have the TB port.

Also- for those using express slots I just saw this:

I just ordered a USB3 RedMag... it flies. Maxxes out at around the same speed as eSata used to (if not slightly faster). Bus powered too!

    << Very happy.
