The USB3 mini works great on my new MBPr. Bus powered and the same speed as the esata one. On a side note about thunderbolt, those connectors really are terrible.

Too bad the USB 3 version isn't shipping within 3-5 days like the RED store says... I've been waiting on my order for 2 weeks now with no promise of a shipping date...

Is it possible to trade in an old USB2 Red Station for a new USB3 Red Station? I'm guessing not, but thought I'd ask. :)

I thought I'd offer some real-world hope to all you REDUSERs asking for a RedMag Thunderbolt solution...

Convergent Design's Gemini 4:4:4 Recorder now comes with a Thunderbolt transfer station (free and open-source, imagine that?). I have been able to copy 100GB of uncompressed HD material within 5 minutes using a last gen 17" MacBook Pro connected to a Pegasus R6. That is double real-time in terms of transfer speed (for uncompressed 444) and twice as fast as any current eSata-based solution.

So... Haters gonna hate... But Thunderbolt KILLS.

thunderbolt is by far the best solution....i remember scsi well, usb was always too slow (usb3 is much better but too late...and not enough...) firewire is just too slow....the pegagsus raids are amazing and there are new external solutions coming out every day....i am sure it is just a matter of time before we see red implementation of some kind....thunderbolt is one of the best things about the blackmagic camera imo....smart move...
