Please do! Did you have to spend a certain amount to get the gift card? Which NYC store?

It's just the education discount, guys. Talk to a rep at your Apple Store as they always offer edu discounts. Some stores, if they do enough sales volume, will often have a business sales specialist and they will give business customers 5 to 10% discount on new system purchases as well.

Put in my order with the local Apple Store. They say they can get it to me quicker than the 3-4 week wait since I put my name on the list for the config I want and I'm first in line for that configuration. So they're thinking the store will get one before I would get it if I ordered online. We'll see....

If you know an Apple rep they can often give you a better discount than the education price without having to lie - I actually qualify for education but I got my last Mac even cheaper (saved about $360) just by knowing somebody and asking for a discount. It differs on what the item is though - I could only get about $60 off the Cinema Display.

Someone please tell me when they think they'll actually need 16 Gigs of ram in the near future; how near, 1 year, 2 years, 3?
I'm trying to decide whether buying a 16gGhz Retina configuration willmake sense withing a year or 2, because if it doesn't, what's the use?

This is good, but if you know an employee you can get a tasty 30% off...knowing a genius is great, but sometimes it's good to know a "genius".
