Is the market really this bad or is this just the case of someone trying to make it happen no matter what?
I'm apt to believe the market is quite bad. RED has saturated the world with high end gear. Gear that often sits unused. The people that successfully rent do so because of long standing relationships that transcend the equipment, forcing the new entrants to deeply discount to build their base. I'm amazed at how weddings and webisodes are now being shot in 4 & 5k. I think single owner rentals will be a thing of the past. Soon we'll see owners throwing in the kit for free just to get a "producer" title or DIT gig.
Say it ain't so....
Ouch man...Do some market research and get work from experience and word of mouth.
Still better than Colorado though. I was on a project until some guy with a Scarlet offered up there camera for free....
